All are invited to a meeting on the progress if the Dorchester Community Land Trust on 8th November at 7pm in the Town Hall.
A year ago Dorchester Town Council organised a meeting to explain the benefit of setting up a Community Land Trust, initially to build affordable flats for young workers on a site it owns, the Tennis Courts at the rear of Trinity Street Car Park. The meeting was very well-attended and a number of local residents have spent the past year setting up the CLT and learning more about the potential for the Tennis Courts site.
Chairman of the new Trust, Tricia Mitchell said she is delighted with the progress to date. “Over the last few months, we have made some major steps forward, including securing funds to allow the project to be developed and securing an architect to work alongside the Trust’s Board of Directors to design buildings that will be available at prices that are affordable for young workers in the town.”
All local residents are now invited to a meeting to hear about progress on the setting up of the Trust and also the progress that will result in the submission of a planning application for flats on the Tennis Courts (pictured left). There will also be an opportunity to demonstrate support for the aims of the Trust by paying £1 to become a member.
