There was festive cheer aplenty at the President’s Breakfast hosted by Athelhampton House – with the splendid Tudor venue setting the scene for a truly memorable start to the festive season.
Our Christmas breakfast featured a performance by the New Hardy Players who sang Victorian carols in the great hall.
Throughout the event, members were treated to a short video titled Our Year in Pictures, highlighting a few of the Chamber’s achievements during 2018. It was produced by Mary Hogarth at The Magazine Expert Ltd, who is also a member of the Executive Committee.
As well as a sumptuous breakfast, there was the annual raffle with some fabulous prizes donated by our members – these included food hampers, beauty vouchers, a variety of beverages to add Christmas cheer and chocolates.
Addressing members, president Steve Farnham thanked the Executive Committee Members for their hard work throughout the year, particularly the events team who work tirelessly on finding fantastic venues and organising such memorable and proactive occasions.
“We had a wonderful Christmas breakfast at Athelhampton House on the 11th December when over 90 people joined us to usher in the festive period with help from the ever-talented New Hardy Players,” said Steve. “We thank the generosity of members who donated prizes for our raffle and those who bought tickets. We were able to raise £500 – donating £400 to a local organisation which provides and distributes food in the form of Christmas Hampers to those local families in need. Thank you to all those who made it possible. Merry Christmas.”
He added that the balance of £100 has been given to the Dorset Echo Toy Appeal.
Grateful thanks also go to our sponsor, Porter Dodson and official photographer, Siân Court of SKC Photography, whose fabulous photos of the event can be seen below.
