Please join us for our special June Breakfast in collaboration with Dorchester Town Council on 11th June 2019 from 7.45am to 9.30am at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester.

Following the May elections, we are inviting members to meet with the new Mayor, newly elected town Councillors and other members of the Town Council.

There has been a history of local government in Dorchester dating back to Anglo Saxon times and Dorchester has been the county town since 1305. It has elected a mayor since 1629. Dorchester Town Council is the parish authority for the county town and provides a range of community and recreational facilities, and promotes the town’s interests with the other statutory bodies that operate in the town. The Town Council has 20 members, elected for a period of 4 years.

Councillors are the champions of their community and give residents and others a voice on the decisions the council makes. It is essential that local councillors engage with residents, local groups and businesses to find out what they require to ensure the town’s services are meeting the community’s needs.  This enables them to make decisions on which services and projects the council should take forward.
