The benefits of membership

5 good reasons to join

  • Network with other businesses and potential clients
  • Chamber meetings offer an excellent networking opportunity. You can request a 5 minute spot on the agenda to stand at the front and inform others about your business, but before and after every meeting there is a social time where you can relax and network at the bar. For the last year we have also been organising a meal for those who want to stay on. At just £10 for two course and coffee this represents excellent value and a great opportunity to make new friends and contacts.

  • A collective voice on local issues
  • Our meetings offer an opportunity for all our members to make their views known on local issues. We feel that it is vital that the Chamber has a strong and authoritative voice on matters of local importance such as pedestrianisation and the Weymouth Relief Road. Make sure you play a part in shaping our collective view by taking part in discussions and responding to email requests to members for their views.

  • Help shape the future of Dorchester
  • We are not just a talking shop. Important as it is to collect and represent the views of members we also believe in being pro-active. We feel it is not enough to just be in favour of a good idea but we do all we can to turn good ideas into reality. Our outstanding success so far has been the Dorchester BID but we can point to a host of initiatives started by the Chamber to the benefit of members. We are always in need of people to help us do this!

  • Informative national speakers
  • We are always on the lookout for interesting speakers on topics of interest to business people. During the past year meetings have been addressed by our local MP Oliver Letwin, Kenny Boyle (Marketing Director of Visit Britain), xxxx of the Olympics and Graham Kidd (then UK President of the Cittaslow movement) to name but a few.

  • Advantageous advertising rates in Business News magazine
  • The Business News Magazine was launched at the start of 2008 and has been receiving glowing reports. As well as being free and widely available in shops and cafes it is distributed to over 2,000 local businesses so if you are looking to target local business people with your advertising, you couldn't choose better than to do it through the Chamber's Business News magazine - and at advantageous rates for members.
