President’s update as in-person breakfasts return

In an email to Dorchester Chamber members today, President, Peter Greenaway, echoed Ian Girling’s comments on the final stage of the Government’s Covid roadmap and laid out some of the exciting events planned for the summer onwards.

“I am pleased to advise you of two events which are now arranged, and we would love to see members at them over the next few weeks.  We also have a number of other venues we have been talking to and who are keen to host us as well – some new, some we have been to before – and we will get a full programme out to you in August.

“However, the first of the events will be a “Drop In” evening primarily aimed at businesses interested in what we can offer them but we would also be delighted to see existing members as well who may just like to come along to meet up again!  These will usually be held on the first Monday each month rotating around local venues, the first one however will be held on 19th July at the Duchess of Cornwall in Poundbury.  No need to book, just turn up, get a drink from the bar and join us at the reserved tables which we hope will be outside.

“We will not be holding a drop in in August due to holidays, but they will restart in September – keep an eye on the website to find out where.  They run from 6pm for members and 6.45pm for non members. and will be very informal – just a meet, catch up or find out about what we can offer.

“We have also arranged our first networking breakfast back after lockdown as well.  This will be held at the very beautiful Milton Abbey School on Tuesday 10th August – always one of our most popular annual venues.  It will run as usual from about 7.30 until 9.00 and will be strictly limited to 60 people so that we can maintain social distancing.  Tables will be limited to 10 instead of 12 and will have 6 people on each as a maximum instead of 10, so we will be at 50% capacity to maintain safe distances.

“All of us on the Executive Committee are looking forward to seeing members again face to face.  Milton Abbey School have an excellent record with Covid protection and so far have not had any positive cases at all.  Bookings for the breakfast will be open very soon, please make sure you book early to ensure we can accommodate all those who would like to attend.

“It is nice to see us at last starting to come out of the chaos which has been the last 16 or so months and I look forward to meeting you for the first time in person as President”.
