Councillors endorse Housing Strategy approach ahead of consultation launch

The consultation about Dorset Council’s Housing Strategy has reached an important milestone after members endorsed the approach taken to develop it.

The People and Health Overview Committees’ support comes less than a month before residents will be encouraged to shape the strategy reflecting both the here and now and for the next five years and beyond.

By presenting key issues such as housing need, supply, and standards it’s hoped people will take the opportunity to feedback and contribute based on their own experiences and views.

Lead member for Housing Councillor Graham Carr-Jones said;  “At the heart of this strategy are our residents – quite rightly they’ll expect the council to have an insight into a broad range of housing related issues and we’re encouraging people to get involved and tell us if there’s anything we’ve missed or need to focus on in more depth.

This is not prescriptive – it’s designed to be a collaborative strategy by and for the people of Dorset as we invite them to home in on housing.”
