Trevor Hedger, Heritage and Tourism Project Manager with Dorchester Town Council has written a draft heritage tourism strategy and action plan to help grow the tourism locally for the benefit of the town’s economy, that includes telling visitors about its 6000 years of history and heritage.

An Action Plan has been drawn up and the draft strategy will be the subject of consultation until the end of September  Dorchester Town Council are now consulting local businesses and members of the community on any comments they would like to add.

Here is a link to the draft strategy and it would be helpful if you would complete the survey before the breakfast. Click here to complete the Survey.

What are your thoughts on the strategy and the action plan?  Come prepared for a Q&A session afterwards.

Dorchester Joint Heritage Committee is a joint committee made up of Councillors from the Town Council and Dorset Council. There are also a number of non councillor representatives from other organisations in the town including the Duchy of Cornwall, Dorchester Civic Society, Dorchester Chamber for Business, Local Nature Reserve, Dorset County Museum, The Keep Military Museum, Shire Hall Project, Blue Badge Guides and the Dorchester Association.

The Committee meets three or four times a year, usually in the Council Chamber of the Corn Exchange Building, High East Street, Dorchester. The meetings generally start at 7.00pm.

Members of the public are welcome to come along.

This will again be hosted by Steve Bulley, courtesy of Dorset Chamber’s Zoom platform.

This is a FREE event.

*The breakfast will be open to non-members, but priority will be given to Dorchester chamber members.
