President’s Budget response

Dorchester Chamber for Business President says the Budget delivered few surprises.

“The budget delivered few surprises as expected, however the news that the growth forecast has been upgraded from 1.4% to 2% this year is welcome.”

He added it was encouraging to see a shift to ease the pain of business rates revaluation with help targeted at growing smaller businesses who are leaving behind small business rate tax relief and help for pubs.

“However, I’m concerned that the money promised for Social Care, which is a major part of our local economy will not be enough. It will be interesting to see how the increase in NI contributions for some Self Employed settles in the coming weeks, it appears only to be an extra burden on the high earning Self Employed.”
