From 1 September, employers taking on a new apprentice can apply for a cash bonus, via the Apprenticeship System, says Weymouth College. The new apprentice must not have been a previous employee within the last six months and must have started an apprenticeship with effect from 1 August 2020 to 31 January 2021.
16-18 year old:
A £2000 bonus is available for each new apprentice. This is in addition to the £1000 employer incentive already in place.
19-24 year old:
A £2000 bonus is also available for each new apprentice.
25+ year old:
A £1500 bonus is available for each new apprentice.
These cash bonuses are available to all employers regardless of size and whether they are levy or non-levy. Payment will be provided in two instalments, the first payment will be issued after the apprentice has been employed for 90 days with the second payment after 365 days.
