Please join us for our March breakfast at popular Carluccio’s in Brewery Square on Tuesday, 10th March 2020 from 7.45am to 9.00am.

Our main speaker this month will be Rob Greacon. Managing Director of Original Stay Company, the new owners of the Kings Arms in High West Street, Dorchester.  Rob will talk about the difficulties experienced in refurbishing the Kings Arms and bringing it back to life.  He will outline plans for the historic building and update us on when it is likely to reopen. The hotel is now part of the expanding collection of unique properties owned and run by Stay Original Company.

The company acquired The King’s Arms in 2016 after it closed down in 2015.  The hotel featured heavily in Thomas Hardy’s novels The Mayor of Casterbridge and Far From The Madding Crowd.  During its 300-year history, the Grade II-listed building has hosted Queen Victoria, King George IV, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Stay Original was started by three friends in 2011 when Rob Greacen, Pat Gill and James Brooke-Webb.  They have transformed other historic buildings into award-winning inns and their portfolio now numbers five.  The Swan in Wedmore, The White Hart in Somerton, Timbrell’s Yard in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, The Grosvenor Arms in Shaftesbury and The Kings Arms in Dorchester.
