President’s New Year message

Dorchester Chamber for Business President Peter Greenaway’s New Year message

Well, as we are probably all too aware, we are coming to the end of a very strange and difficult year for businesses and people alike.

It has been great to see how many of the retail businesses in Dorchester have adapted to the new environment and have embraced online shopping over recent weeks.  We have also been fortunate with all the work undertaken by the LoveDorch team, which is jointly run by the Chamber, Dorchester BID and Dorchester Town Council, with the beautiful decoration of some of the empty shops in the town on the theme of the 12 days of Christmas.

The other good news on a more national basis is that the roll out of the Covid 19 vaccine has started in the West Dorset area, so hopefully when sufficient numbers have been vaccinated, we will be able to start thinking about returning to some sort of normality in our lives.  I am sure we are all looking forward to being able to meet up with family and friends as well as networking face to face with other Chamber members before too long.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the next virtual breakfast on 12th January when we will have an online Health and Wellbeing seminar which will be very appropriate for our current situation.  In the meantime, if any members feel they would like a chat, please do contact me or a member of the Executive committee.

Until then, I wish you all a healthy and happy New Year when we can enjoy the things we have for so long taken for granted.

All best wishes, Peter

Peter Greenaway
