Dorset is getting ready for one of the biggest weekends in the county’s calendar as the Dorset County Show returns to Dorchester Showground on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September 2026.
Celebrating the very best of Dorset agriculture, countryside and rural life, the County Show is the county’s traditional end-of-harvest celebration bringing communities together for a packed weekend of animals, food, entertainment, shopping and countryside skills.
This year’s event promises an exciting mix of much-loved show traditions and spectacular new attractions. Headlining the action in the Main Ring will
be Monster Trucks, bringing high-powered car-crushing thrills to the showground, alongside the OG Stunt Horse Team, whose impressive displays will showcase speed, skill and horsemanship.
Music will also take centre stage, with West Country favourites The Wurzels headlining the Music Stage on Saturday, giving visitors the perfect opportunity to enjoy a festival atmosphere after a day exploring the show.
At the heart of the County Show remains its celebration of farming and livestock. Visitors can get up close to cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, alpacas, rabbits, cavies, poultry and heavy horses, while livestock competitions and showjumping provide plenty of action for enthusiasts.
There is plenty beyond the show rings too. The Dorset Food Hall and Food & Drink Area will showcase local produce, while the Horticulture and Floral Pavilion will celebrate the county’s gardening talent. Visitors can browse crafts, shopping and trade stands, discover traditional rural skills and enjoy attractions including the Countryside Ring and scurry racing.
With something for every generation, the Dorset County Show offers a unique opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, tastes and traditions of the county in one spectacular weekend.
The showground opens at 8.30am, with the main event running until 6pm on both days. Saturday’s Music Stage continues into the evening, closing at 10.30pm.
Free onsite parking is available, with a free shuttle bus operating from Dorchester, Poundbury and Dorchester South railway station.
