FREE Open Air Cinema featuring live music in Dorchester

Lovers of outdoor film will be thrilled to hear that there are two wonderful films lined up to be shown at this years FREE open-air cinema event which is being held at Maumbury Rings in Dorchester on Saturday 21 July.

The first film, The Lion King, will be shown at 3pm followed by an interval during which there will be live music from a talented up and coming band ‘Galaxy Thief’ who bring a fresh vibe to the pop/rock sound – perfect for a relaxing, fun afternoon!

The second film, The Greatest Showman (sing-along version), will be shown at 6pm.

There will be hot food, candy floss, popcorn, ice-cream and delicious coffee on sale – everything you need to complete your cinema experience!
There will even be a licenced bar for the grown-ups!

“This is always a very popular day so we are thrilled to be able to hold it again this year. The venue, Maumbury Rings, is an ideal location for it too – as an ancient Roman Amphitheatre (and previously a Neolithic Henge) it lends itself perfectly to public events such as this. Entrance is free and all are welcome – we are dementia friendly too this year so this really is a family friendly, totally inclusive event!”
Emma Scott – Community Development Officer, Dorchester Town Council.

Attendees are encouraged to come early (from around 2pm), bring a blanket or deckchair and get themselves comfortable for this truly wonderful community event.

Parking is available at the Fairfield Market car park – just across the road from Maumbury Rings, and there are also regular buses to close to the site – plus Dorchester South Station is only a 5 minute walk away.

The event has been organised by Dorchester Youth Extra (DYE) – the youth forum for Dorchester, and is being sponsored by Dorchester Town Council, Magna Housing, Stepping into Nature and the Casterbridge Rotary Club.
